BUNKER QUANTITY SURVEY (BQS)

On the barge:

The barge tanks will be measured before and after bunkering with our calibrated and certified thermometer and ullage tape. The correctness of tank tables and barge certificates will be verified. The original "paper" tank tables will be used in order to prevent computer errors. We advice the chief engineer to witness the barge measurements.

On the vessel:

The vessel tanks will be measured before and after bunkering. Since the vessel tanks are not calibrated, the vessel's gauging equipment will be used. The vessels draft will be recorded by visual means. The original "paper" tank tables will be used to prevent computer errors.

In case of dispute:

In case of a difference between the BDN and our calculated barge figures larger than 2 metric tons, a letter of protest will be issued. The vessel tanks are not calibrated, in case of a difference between the BDN and vessel measurements a statement of facts will be issued. If necessary the chief engineer will be assisted to issue a letter of protest,
Europoort Cargo Inspections will not sign third party documents.
